Talking Theology With The Cat, 5:30 AM

Cat knocks stuff off the dresser,
rouses me from my slumber,
informs me of her hunger,

I tell her
the wages of noise (which at this hour
equates to sin) are beatings without number.

She’s no Christian. She knows I love her,
that I will do her no harm.  Little fucker.
Her God is well trained.  I get the can opener.
